            Description

            While the patch hasn't been approved yet, creating a story to backport this patch.

            This is to fix an incompatibility problem with creating AVRO files via flume and using MapReduce on those files.
            The AvroInputFormat requires the .avro file extension and the flume HDFS sink only adds extensions for codec compression.
