Description
I'm trying to move over to CDH5 a CDH4 cluster, and i'm stuck for the HDFS upgrade, being in HA mode and trying to follow the new procedure which allows the update to be done without disabling HA.
The instructions for step (2) are not clear, from http://www.cloudera.com/content/cloudera-content/cloudera-docs/CDH5/latest/CDH5-Installation-Guide/cdh5ig_to_cdh5_upgrade.html?scroll=topic_6_3_10_unique_1 :
Wait for NameNode to exit safe mode, and then re-start the standby NameNode.
At this point in the process, the datanodes are down, and there's no way for the (only, and therefore active) namenode to exit safe mode.
What shall we do or wait for then ?
