Bug from Apache Hive JIRA HIVE-9665 affects CDH 5.4.2

            Description

            In my testing of CDH 5.4.2, I've run into the bug documented (and fixed) in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-9665 which was introduced in Hive 0.14.0 with HIVE-8042

            The workaround, disabling hive.exec.parallel for all jobs is unfortunately unsatisfactory as many of our Hive jobs run significantly faster with that setting enabled.

            I do not know if this bug affects any other releases of CDH.
