Grunt shell not returning any data

I'm seeing some strange behavior with grunt from within Hue. When I
first open the shell, it says its logging the output to /dev/null
which seems odd. Then it tends to accept one or two commands then the
rest appear to be swallowed up by the UI and no output is displayed.
I see the commands come through in the shell_input.log and the output
in shell_output.log but nothing is making its way to the UI after the
first couple of commands. I've confirmed this issue in the latest
version of Chrome and Firefox.
